Photometric Viewer 3.1 Features and Limitations

Photometric Viewer processes photometric files whose filename ends in .IES and are constructed in accordance with the IESNA standard LM-63 "IESNA Standard File Format for Electronic Transfer of Photometric Data". The Viewer will process data from any of these versions of LM-63: 1986, 1991,1995, or 2002 (except for type A floodlights).

The Photometric Viewer displays data and generates reports in three different formats:

  • Interior

  • Area

  • Floodlight

The following kinds of output are available from each of these formats:

Interior:

  • Summary Data, including:

  • Efficiency (total, down and up)

  • CIE Classification

  • Spacing Criterion

  • RP-1-93 VDT Conformance

  • Zonal Lumen Summary

  • Average Luminance

  • Coefficient of Utilization Table

  • Candela Plot and Table

  • Room Estimator (for determining how many luminaires are needed to achieve a specified level of illuminance.)

  • Wallwash estimator (for estimating the pattern of direct illuminance on a wall section given a specified distance from the wall and spacing between luminaires.)

Area

  • Summary Data, including:

  • Efficiency (total, down and up)

  • Plane and Cone Diagram, including intensity and direction (H & V) of max candlepower

  • Iso-illuminance Diagram (at a user-specified mounting height)

  • Candela Table

  • TM-15 Outputs

Flood

  • Summary Data, including:

  • Efficiency

  • NEMA/IES Type

  • Field Angles (10% of max)

  • Beam Angles (50% of max)

  • Candela Trace and Table, including intensity and direction (H & V) of max candlepower

  • Iso-candela Diagram

The Photometric Viewer can also be used to view two photometric files side-by-side for easy comparison.

Limitations

  • Photometric Viewer does not operate with Type A floodlight data as is typically used within the automotive industry.

  • The Area and Wallwash Estimators handle only the direct component and do not include reflected light.
